OneDX Raises Bar for Secure Web Portal Access to Medical Images
Technology Solution Introduces New Paradigm for Physician-to-Patient EHR Access & Portability
Fairfield, CT – (March, 2016) A model for coordinated health care delivery plays out in two imaging center networks in New York and Connecticut, where medical images generated offsite are integrated seamlessly into a patient’s electronic health record (EHR). The linchpin of that cross-enterprise coordination is the OneDX® platform, a conduit for downloading and sharing medical images securely from remote points using any iOS, Android, or Windows OS device.
Shelton, Conn.-based Advanced Radiology Consultants (ARC) integrates the OneDX technology in its patient portal, allowing patients to view images and charts, and to share information with specialists. Referring physicians leverage the portal to view patient images and reports remotely on any platform, taking advantage of OneDX’s vendor neutral capability to interface with picture archive and communication systems (PACS) and radiology information systems (RIS).
In 2015, the OneDX application, developed by Fairfield, Conn.-based OneDX, facilitated access and viewing through ARC’s patient portal of more than 200,000 exams. Zwanger-Pesiri (ZP) Radiology, which employs 50 radiologists in 19 locations in and around Long Island, NY, saw more than 164,000 exams accessed by patients using the OneDX application.
OneDX’s security features withstand Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) rigor, allowing large health care enterprises such as ARC and Yale-New Haven Health to share protected medical images and patient health records securely. The OneDX platform facilitates this information exchange between health care enterprises without the need to establish site-to-site virtual private networks (VPNs) or to puncture existing firewalls to open inbound ports.
Using the OneDX platform, physicians can view and download images without having to directly connect to PACS, share them with consulting physicians and attach them to the electronic health record (EHR) via embedded proprietary links. Patients avoid security blocks to results, bypassing URLs linked to a PACS and requiring a special login. Instead, they can view their images and read their finalized medical reports simultaneously using the OneDX universal viewer.
Both physicians and patients can access images and records from any Internet browser or mobile device platform. With immediate access to their results, patients and their physicians can decide on a course of treatment or further consultations without undue delays.
The OneDX solution aligns with federal health care information technology (IT) initiatives that aim to raise the quality of patient care through the use of EHRs, by generating accurate patient data, coordinating care among health care providers and reducing costs. ARC’s integrated patient portal built on the OneDX platform has allowed the organization to earn financial incentives awarded by the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for “meaningful use” of certified EHR technology.
“Our technology solution ensures the highest levels of secure physician-to-patient EHR image access and portability. It takes healthcare to a whole new level,” says OneDX founder Kayo Olufowobi.
OneDX will be providing demonstrations of their technology in Booth #12049 at the HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition, Feb. 29 - March 4, 2016, in the Sands Expo and Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV. For more information about OneDX, email info@onedx.com, visit www.onedx.com or call (877) 798-5773.
