Hundreds of Thousands of Patients Already Viewing Images, Sharing Medical Reports, Using OneDX Zero Footprint Viewer
Stratford, CT – (October 21, 2014) The New Medical Product Server has announced its revolutionary software application suite OneDX has joined the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Image Share network. The network is a collaboration between RSNA, the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, hospital and radiology centers, technology providers and patients, to build a network where patients have access to and greater control of their medical images, allowing them to electronically share important diagnostic information with their healthcare team.
OneDX will make available its multi-platform application to hospitals and radiology centers already in the Image Share network. To date, the network has enrolled just over 2000 patients in a pilot project, whereas OneDX already has more than 200,000 patients interacting with their physicians and healthcare providers using the proprietary OneDX Zero Footprint Viewer, which gives patients direct remote access to diagnostic-quality images using any web browser or mobile device.
“Our technology is tailor-made to projects like the Image Share network,” said Kayo Olufowobi, president and CEO of The New Medical Product Server. “The network has made great strides in providing patients access to images, but we believe we can bring higher levels of efficiency and access to the network that will benefit physicians and patients alike.”
In its existing configuration, radiology sites using radiology information systems (RIS) and picture archive and communication systems (PACS) link to the Image Share network. Images are gathered on a server, which sits between the radiology site and a clearinghouse located in the Internet Cloud. Staff can retrieve images from the server and send them to the clearinghouse where, in turn, patients can sign into the network and download images into a personal health record (PHR) account for viewing.
OneDX can both streamline and expand this process. The current method involves an intermediary clearinghouse which potentially slows down the instant share capability. OneDX eliminates this step. OneDX is installed once, directly at the radiology site. Patient reports and images remain with the site until they are shared, not stored in an intermediary state in the Cloud where they could potentially be compromised. And OneDX goes further, allowing patients to upload documents and images from any aspect of their healthcare, including DICOM and lab files, to their PHR so the entire healthcare team can access and share medical information with one another. OneDX even allows live streaming of video and audio content, as well as chat capabilities. Adds Olofuwobi, “Our point-to-point functionality ensures the highest levels of physician-to-patient-to-physician access, engagement, information and security. It takes healthcare to a whole new level.”
OneDX will provide demonstrations of their technology in Booth #8517 at the 2014 RSNA Annual Meeting, November 3-December 5, in Chicago.
